Rev. Ernest C. Singh migrated to the US in January 1976 joined by his wife in February 1977. Prior to coming to the
States he served as an ordained Minister at Reformed Presbyterian Church in Hardwar India from June 1970 to December 1976. He also taught at Presbyterian Theological Seminary for 3 ½ years on a part time basis while serving a church.
Rev Ernest C. Singh holds a B. Theology from Allabad Bible Seminary in India, a Masters in Divinity degrees from Covenant Theological Seminary in ST. Louis, MO and a Masters of Theology degree from Concordia Seminary also in St. Louis MO.
He and his wife spent 1 ½ years in India to give service as a missionaries for AMG International from June 1980 to November 1982. In 1982 he, his wife and two sons returned back to the USA and settled in Chicago.
While talking and praying with his prayer partners and the officials of AMG International, the Lord gave Rev. Singh and his wife a deep desire to begin a Ministry for the South Asian Indian and Pakistani Christian community. It was their conviction that Christians of all ethnicity, culture and national differences should be able to worship, fellowship and service together because of our unity in faith. Pakistani and Indian Christians have even more of a reason to do so because of our common rich culture and heritage.
Rev. Singh was so passionate for this ministry that he worked to financially support his family at a secular job as a social worker for Catholic Charities while starting it. He held that job for 15 years at which time the Indo-Pak group grew to about 45 people and he became full time in 1999. Today Rev. Singh serves both Indo Pak UMC and West Ridge UMC both in the same building.
